The auction is over, for our families at least.
18 homes and 34 children will not only remain housed but will become HOMEOWNERS as a result of this harried process. What a gift, what a relief.
Unfortunately, 13 families lost their homes due to unexpected aggressive outbidding, and are now waiting for a knock on the door or a letter in the mail telling them what’s next.
We are so proud of the work we have done, and in the face of hard losses we take solace in knowing that the homes that were lost were not lost because of us. On the other hand, the homes that were saved might not have been saved if it were not for the combined efforts of The Tricycle Collective our donors, our volunteers, our partners at the United Community Housing Coalition and probably a lot of other benevolent spirits working in the shadows. For what we have, we are grateful.
Let’s keep on keeping Detroit at home.
